English for the Mining Industry
Our English for the Mining Industry course is for mining industry professionals who want to improve their English communication in a work environment. The mining industry and people working in it are becoming ever more international, so a common language is crucial. The course addresses topics including types of ore, exploration methods, mining techniques, effects on the environment, and industry safety.
The objective is to help students learn work-related vocabulary, phrases and expressions as well as improve their general English skills such as grammar, speaking, listening comprehension and writing using materials such as dialogues, authentic texts, diagrams and grammar exercises. During the lessons, the main focus will be on activating speaking skills and encouraging participants to communicate in English.
The course may include the following topics:
- Ores and their processing
- Different types of mines
- Professions, tools, equipment
- Mathematics for the mining industry
- Mining operations
- Mines and the environment
- Health hazards and emergency procedures
The course deals with relevant terminology and phrases, as well as grammar exercises to improve students’ ability to communicate in English. The main objective of the course is on communication skills. Because the course focuses on specialized vocabulary, the participants should be familiar with at least the basics of English.
